Conference topic: The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development was held in New York in 2015 and then the world leaders agreed on a new 15-year global Program for Sustainable Development, which targets the year 2030 (the UN 2030 Agenda) and which contains 17 goals of sustainable development.
The concept of sustainable development implies the process of achieving a balance between economic, social, and environmental requirements. Libraries, through their various activities, can have a major impact on raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development. At this professional conference we want to show examples of good practice, library services, and activities of libraries related to sustainability, how to increase the awareness of librarians themselves about environmental issues and to encourage them to organize programs and activities in their libraries accordingly. There will be discussions on how all types of libraries affect their users, but also the general public, regarding green topics.
Aim of the conference: Exchange of experiences related to green topics that emphasize the importance of acquiring skills and knowledge on environmental issues in order to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
